Botox for Facial Adjustment
Botox is pure protein which is extracted from Botulinum toxin type A.
Warning
Botox must be injected by a specialist doctor and must be a genuine product that has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Receiving an injection that is not certified and/or by a non-medical personnel may lead to injection on wrong and dangerous sites as it is not guaranteed that the injector knows fully well the internal anatomical structures of the face, and may result to muscle weakness and eyelid ptosis, among others.
Do’s and Don’ts After Botox Injection
1. Do not lie down for at least 4 hours after the injection.
2. Right after the injection, chew some chewing gum for about 40 minutes to allow the Botox to spread throughout the injection site.
3. Do not massage or press the face hard for at least 1 month.
4. Refrain from being in a place or doing activities that directs intense heat on the face such as baking or staying in a sauna, for at least 4 hours after the injection is completed.
5. Should refrain from drinking alcohol because it will reduce the effectiveness of Botox to loosen up the muscle faster.
* Botox should not be injected to pregnant women during breastfeeding, as well as those with neuromuscular problems.
How long will Botox work?
The effect of Botox will last for about 8 months to 1 year, depending on the individual’s facial care routine. Do not drink alcohol because it will reduce the effectiveness of Botox, and avoid doing activities that makes the face hot as this will degrade the Botox faster than normal.
